October 20, 2011 – Pork Ssam

27 Nov

Today was some more stewed pork (possibly leftovers?) served with lettuce and chili paste for making wraps. I’m a big fan of the Korean technique for eating this — fill the lettuce with pork, rice, and chili sauce, then you are supposed to eat the entire thing in one bite. Although it was a little clumsy at first, I soon got the hang of it. This meal was served with the standard cabbage kimchi and and a kind of traditional korean soup. The soup is a kind of fish cake with sliced turnip, seasoned with red pepper and some salt. It was not bad but the ssam stole the show today.

I’m a huge fan of it, and I want to have it again soon! It took a few tries to get the hang of at first, but I think I have it perfected now.
